Mayberry Investments Limited proudly reaffirmed its steadfast support for youth development and athletic excellence at the official press launch of the 10th S.W. Isaac-Henry Track and Field Invitational Meet.
The event, held on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at the S Hotel in Kingston, underscored Mayberry’s decade-long partnership with the invitational as a cornerstone of the Jamaican track and field calendar.
The launch, moderated by the event's chairperson and veteran sports personality Ed Barnes, brought together key stakeholders in Jamaican athletics to celebrate the "10th Renewal" of the meet.
Leroy Cooke, Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee said it is critical for the meet to be held this year, in spite of the difficulties faced due to the impact of Hurricane Melissa.
“A lot of people see meets and they don’t understand what it takes to put on a meet every year. It’s something that really takes a lot and we have been doing it for 12 years,” Cooke said.
He reiterated that the meet gives the opportunity for Jamaica’s senior athletes to compete at an international standard at home.
“We are about the development of young athletes and we’re going to do everything we can to make sure that athletes get a good opportunity to compete,” he added.
STATHS principal Dr Worrell Hibbert echoed these sentiments saying that the impact of sports on student development is major. “What this track meet continues to promote year after year is community building, it’s the relationships, it’s the discipline. It’s all those characteristics and morals that you learn to embrace,” Hibbert said.
Representing Mayberry Investments, Marketing Manager Desiree Wheeler highlighted the company’s dedication to holistic student-athlete development. “Mayberry’s partnership with this meet reflects our company’s dedication to holistic development,” stated Desiree Wheeler during her greeting. “The track is more than a venue for competition; it is a classroom that instills resilience, discipline, and a lifelong pursuit of excellence in our athletes.”
As a long-standing sponsor since the inception of the current organizing committee's tenure, Mayberry Investments continues to see its contribution as an investment in the future of Jamaica.
The SW Isaac Henry Invitational organized by St Andrew Technical High and named in honour of the school's former principal Stafford Wycliffe Isaac-Henry is set for February 21 at the National Stadium. The public is invited to witness the next generation of athletic stars on show at what serves as a critical qualifying event for the upcoming "Champs." This year’s meet is particularly significant as it sits on the World Athletics global calendar, offering athletes the opportunity to earn essential ranking points for international competitions, including the World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest and the World Under-20 Championships in Oregon.
