Even in this age of information, technology and scientific advancement, the world is evidently at a crossroads, with contending interests and declining moral values. In light of this fact, developing and underdeveloped nations are, now more than ever, urgently in need of renewal and social transformation, even as they aspire for well needed economic development. With this in mind, the field of the Cultural and Creative Arts must play an increasingly important role in nation building and social renewal. In this connection, Poetry and Poets must play a leading role in reshaping the collective mindset, as Poetry is very influential in impacting language, which in turn shapes the thinking.

SenYAcum Edutainment has been at the forefront of Jamaican Poetry for decades and is now engineering institutional and intergenerational transformation. This becomes quite evident in the recent unveiling of The Rastafari Institute, being spearheaded by Dub Poet, Author and Edutainer, Yasus Afari.

The Rastafari Institute was inaugurated on Thursday, January 1st, 2026, with the very successful, and fittingly titled, "The First Supper" at The Rastafari Institute, Casa de la Vega, 23-24 Sligoville Road, St Catherine, Jamaica. This is now being followed up by The Rastafari Institute - Open Day on Sunday, February 1st, 2026 at Casa de la Vega.

Poetry in Motion 2026

Poetry in Motion is the longest running, most impactful and successful one day annual Poetry Festival in the English speaking Caribbean and beyond. Courtesy of Yasus Afari and SenYAcum Edutainment, Poetry in Motion shall celebrate it's 23rd annual renewal on Sunday, February 22nd, 2026 at Manchester Golf Club in Mandeville.

Poetry in Motion 2026 features: Jean Lowrie-Chin, Noddy Virtue, Dr Ann-Marie Wilmot, Derrick Wilks, Prof Clinton Hutton, Dr Charmaine Gooden-Monteith, Dr Kadamawe Knife, Sammiya Banton, Winsome McIntosh and of course, it's Founder-Director, Yasus Afari and the PiM 2026 Golden Tonge Awardees, among others. As usual, there are charities which are benefitting from Poetry in Motion 2026. These are Friends in Need and Mother Derinda Health Fair.
